First things first: I received a digital copy of this book as part of my participation in a blog tour – this, however, affects neither my opinion nor the content of my review in any way. Many, many thanks to the author for this opportunity!

Keep the Faith is a relatively short novel that tackles, well, faith (and Faith, for that matter) – during devastating times, amidst large-scale tragedies, in the middle of heartbreak, and even in the people who don’t deserve it. The story immediately jumps into the messy aftermath of Faith’s breakup with her five-year boyfriend James. From there, we are whisked into her journey towards healing and moving forward. Make no mistake, however, Keep the Faith is more than what meets the eye.

Before anything else, I received an audio copy of this book, which was sponsored by the author and narrator, as part of my participation in the blog tour hosted by The Audiobookworm. To win an audiobook copy of Omari and the People (gifted via Audible) for yourself, enter my giveaway!

Omari and the People is a wonderfully written, epic adventure centered on a notorious, thrill-seeking thief named—as the title suggests—Omari. After unintentionally burning down an entire city, Omari, in an effort to redeem himself, deceives the displaced people into believing in the existence of a safe haven which only he can show them. From there, the readers are taken on a captivatingly narrated, arduous journey and personally, the more I travelled alongside Omari (so to speak), the more compassionate I felt for his character and his attempt at repentance for all he’s done in the past.

I received a digital Advance Reading Copy (ARC) of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Rhett Bruno!

After a massive meteorite nearly wiped out the human population to the point of extinction, mankind shifted its focus towards human expansion, actively seeking out means to safely inhabit other celestial bodies in the universe.

The story begins three hundred years after the meteorite hit. At this point, several places in the solar system—such as Luna (the moon), Mars, Europa (one of Jupiter’s moons), and Titan (one of Saturn’s moons)—are now populated by man. Those who are born on Earth are referred to as Earthers whereas everyone else is called as off-worlders. Additionally, the old forms of government all collapsed and have been replaced by the United Sol Federation (USF). However, the USF is actually a structure without real power due to the existing, prevalent corporate politics. Private corporations—namely Pervenio and Venta—are truly the ones in control.

Mini Reviews || Batch 5

Hi! This is my fifth batch of mini reviews. I honestly did not expect that I’d be doing these frequently as I prefer writing reviews that are more comprehensive and in depth. But I’m doing what I can.

This batch is sort of different from the rest. I’ll be reviewing the following books:

  • Gyre by Jessica Gunn
  • Angelborn by L. Penelope
  • Sapient Salvation: The Selection by Jayne Faith
  • Every Beat by Samantha Rey

Now, what makes this batch different? The answer: what makes these books different from what I’ve read so far. Okay, hold on, that sounded pretty vague.

What I mean is I’ve decided to add another element in my mini reviews. Specifically, from this point onward, I’ll be dedicating a portion of my review to discuss what makes the book different or what makes it stand out. This is to make up for the book review’s lack of detail. I’m hoping that doing this will not only produce better quality reviews but also push me to be more observant and more susceptible to noticing specifics when reading novels. All right, here we go!

Official synopsis:

Orphan. Runaway. Thief. Since the moment I was ripped from my mother’s womb, I’ve been an outcast amongst my own kind. The Sidhe might possess magical Gifts, unbelievable wealth and unfathomable power but I don’t want a thing to do with them. I ran away from their lands in the Highlands of Scotland when I was eleven years old and I’ve never looked back. I don’t need a Clan. I’ve got my own family of highly skilled thieves who mean more to me than any Sidhe ever could. Unfortunately for me, the playboy heir to the Moncrieffe Clan has something I desperately need. To get it back, I’m going to have to plunge myself back into that world, no matter what the consequences may be. I suppose it’s just as well I have sense of humour. I think I’m going to need it.
