2018 Book Blogger Awards Nominees [where Shealea can’t seem to shut up about how amazing book bloggers are]

The nominations for the 2018 Book Blogger Awards are open until the last day of April(!!!) – which means that I am right on time in releasing my set of nominations for the awards. However, before I pay tribute to a bunch of incredibly talented, remarkably dedicated, and just out-of-this-world awesome bloggers, let me provide a bit more context regarding the 2018 Book Blogger Awards.

First of all, the Book Blogger Awards was first organized by Joce @ Write Through the Night back in 2017, making this just its second year (although, of course, we’re all hoping that there’ll be more to come). Just as the name suggests, the Book Blogger Awards consists of numerous awards that are exclusively for book bloggers. If you’d like to learn the specific mechanics on how to nominate and vote for book bloggers, then let me refer you to this post where Joce explains everything you need to know.

I actually first encountered this through the nominations posted by Malanie @ Malanie Loves Fiction, and I immediately fell in love with the idea of providing a platform to recognize the hard work and dedication of book bloggers! I always, always, always make it a point to give recognition to other book bloggers whenever I can – be it on my monthly synopses or even on some book reviews. Having another avenue to express my love and appreciation is very much welcome here in That Bookshelf Bitch!

{book tag} | My Name in TBR Books

It’s been more than a year since I last did a book tag, as far as I know, so I’ve been meaning to do one for quite some time now. I mean, it’s a pretty mindless but still fun activity. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled when Carrie @ Cat on the Bookshelf (thanks so much, lovely!) tagged me to do the “My Name in TBR Books” book tag, which, as the name not-so-subtly implies, instructs the tagged blogger to spell out their name with the titles of books from their TBR pile.

Because I’m really an ✨ extra ✨ kind of girl who likes a challenge, I decided to use only books in my Kindle app as well as books that are currently with me in my dorm. That means none of my many titles back at home were included in this list. Additionally, I also decided to complete my entire blog handle: Shealea @ That Bookshelf Bitch.

So here we go!

Best Looking Blog??? [Re: 2016 Blogger Awards]

Hey, everyone! I just had to write up a separate post about the 2016 Blogger Awards!

Quick tidbits of info: The Blogger Awards started, if I’m not mistaken, in 2015 and was initially hosted by a girl who went by the alias ‘Ambi’. For 2016, the blogging event was organized by Elm! To learn more about the awards, you can simply read this post.

To cut the long story short, That Bookshelf Bitch was deemed as the Best Looking Blog along with Elly’s blog, A Hufflepuff’s Thoughts (Congratulations, girl!!! Your header is adorable.). And hey, hey, hey, that happens to be my blog! Can’t believe it? Same here! I received a tiny notification legitimately just minutes away from New Year. To say I was surprised is a total understatement. What an incredible way to end my 2016!

Blogger Recognition x Versatile Blogger

I thought it would be a nice change of pace to do either a tag or awards post. Today, I’ll be doing two: The Blogger Recognition Award and The Versatile Blogger Award.

For The Blogger Recognition Award, I was nominated by Lois @ Lois Reads Books, Sam @ One Bookish Girl, B.G. @ Getting Through Anxiety, and Grace @ Quirky and Peculiar.

On the other hand, for The Versatile Blogger Award, I was nominated by Jay @ A Lovelorn Virgo and Sam @ RiverMoose-Reads.

Thank you, everyone! I feel humbled that so many of you thought of mentioning my blog in your posts. You’re all equally wonderful!

Awards || The Liebster Award (Pt. 2)

This morning I told myself I’d write at least two book reviews – and I totally will! You know, eventually. But with all the hype and excitement I’ve been feeling about my sixth month of blogging and my first ever international giveaway, I figured that doing an awards post would be a nice change of pace to ease my feels.

I’ve already done the Liebster Award once, but that was several months ago. This time, I was nominated by the wonderful Lily @ The Lily Notepad! I genuinely adore her blog, so for her to mention me made me feel really fluttery on the inside. Thank you, Lily!

Liebster Award + Blogger Recognition Award + Beautiful Blogger Award

Before anything else, I’d like to apologize for my abrupt inactivity in blogging. Well, technically, I’ve only been MIA for five or six days, which isn’t really a long while. I think. My absence will be explained via a blog post in the near future. If I don’t end up feeling too lazy, that is. Anyway, let’s move on to the point of this post.

Early on, I’ve decided against participating in blogger awards and tags. I never specifically announced it on this blog as it was more of a personal vow. While I understand that these tags and awards are meant to boost camaraderie among bloggers and to serve as an avenue to better introduce one’s self to the virtual community, these activities – and this is going to sound very vague – didn’t really feel like my sort of thing. As mentioned in my bio (hint: visit my ‘About’ page), I am not a huge fan of writing about myself. Truth be told, I’m pretty terrible at doing so, and the mere thought makes me feel very awkward. Also, I’m not so great in interviews as well. But I digress. Mainly, I wanted people to get to know me better in a way and at a pace I’m more comfortable with. That’s actually one of my intentions when I decided to establish Shealea writes – a humble category for my late night thoughts, incoherent rants, nearly unintelligible musings, meaningless scribbles and everything else in between.
