Poetic Attempt || Fifteen

you need not drench your body
in cold gasoline
and let the hair of lit matches
tickle your skin

you need not set your soul ablaze
to give warmth to a world
that fails to acknowledge the
intensity of your flames

you need not worry about the brightness
of the light you emit
for you were crafted precisely
and made entirely of divine

you need not succumb to foolishness
that you owe anyone else
for your radiance or
for your ability to make stars explode

your fire is solely yours
and not even Prometheus
dares to take credit for it
